GoldSweeper User's Manual
This is a Pulse-Induction type metal detector. The capabilities listed on the
Advantages Page are new and contradicted by popular beliefs about
this type of detectors. Many hold the opinion that PI detectors can not discriminate between
ferrous and non-ferrous targets and that they are less sensitive than VLF detectors. That was
true at one time, but it isn't true any longer...
To use the detector:
1. Flip the power switch on the left side of the front panel to the ON position.
2. Flip the spring-loaded, center-off GAIN switch UP or DOWN until an INTERMITTENT
tone is heard in the earphones. ( If the tone is continuous, the setting is too low, and if
NO TONE is heard, the setting is too high.)
3. Flip the spring-loaded, center-off SOUND switch UP or DOWN, until the sound level
is comfortable.
You are ready to go! Sweep the search coil across the ground at an approximate rate of one sweep per second, while moving forward so that the sweeps are overlapping.
When a target is found, the threshold tone becomes continuous while passing over the target and increases in volume.
If the target is ferrous (iron), the threshold tone is followed by a LOW tone.
(Memory aid: LOW = Leave it LOW, in the ground.)
If the target is non-ferrous, ( gold, silver, platinum, copper, lead, aluminum.) the threshold tone is followed by a HIGH tone.
(Memory aid: HIGH = bring it HIGH, dig it up.)
The rechargeable battery pack normally lasts for more than eight hours of continuous service.
When appropriate, a LOW BATTERY indication, consisting of high and low tones in sequence,
is issued once every ten seconds.
Tip: When small nuggets are found in an area, go over the same ground with a bigger coil,
to detect bigger and deeper nuggets. Before changing coils, turn off the power and then turn
it back on. The detector is automatically readjusted for optimum performance with the new coil
and your previously selected levels for GAIN and SOUND are reloaded. NO FIDDLING!
